Previously known as Brand Journalists, the web marketing agency had decided on a new name but had nothing to go along with it. They knew roughly what they wanted to convey and how they wanted to be seen, but it wasn’t yet a fully formed idea.

What they needed now was a full brand identity from the ground up. First, to flesh out their concept, then to make it come to life.

Brand Identity

Your Story Takes Flight

The Concept

“Brand J is in the business of telling stories — your story. The story of your growth and success, how rough times led to good times, and how the best times are still ahead. Through story, we bring the essence of your brand above the clouds, and inspire your audience to look closer, and become part of the narrative.”

The Logo

While a good story is always clear in the message it conveys, it can also mean different things to different people. Designed to represent the company’s overall concept, the abstract mark above the J gives an impression of “flight,” but still allows for some amount of interpretation by the viewer. The mark has been seen as a bird, a paper airplane, or even a jet. All are valid interpretations.

The full wordmark is strong but friendly, nestled together comfortably and conveying a sense of approachable confidence — in accordance to the brand’s voice.

Brand Voice

Confident

We are experts in our field. Brand J is the leader in franchise development and marketing, and we’re not afraid to let people know that our professional mettle is unmatched. Our team members are bold and ambitious, and always looking to the future.

Approachable

We have clients of all sizes, both new and established, in every industry, and we love it! We’re casual and friendly, always open to a candid conversation about a client’s goals, big or small. We may often be informal, but we’re never impolite.

The Website

I created a new navigation tree and worked with a copywriter to fully re-write the site’s content. As part of the overall redesign and new brand standards, I developed a full design system and component library in Figma from the ground up.
